Lip Blush

Lip blushing is semi-permanent, tattooed makeup that tints your lips using a cosmetic tattoo gun (on a low setting) and water-based inks. The result is kind of similar to lip fillers—in that your lips will look a little fuller simply by being defined and enhanced with pigment—but lip blushing won’t actually change the shape or feeling of your lips. Instead, it’ll just leave you with a soft, shaded-in color that can enhance your lip symmetry, cover uneven pigmentation or scars, and give you the illusion of bigger, fuller lips.

FAQ

    • DO NOT DRINK ALCHOL or CAFFINE 24 hours before your appointment

    • DO NOT take Advil or any blood thinners such as Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen unless medically necessary, 48-72 hrs prior to your procedure. Tylenol is fine.

    • Please wait for 4 weeks after any lip fillers to come in for your lip blush appointment

    • Avoid heavy sunlight and especially sunburn for 5 days before the procedure. The skin should not be in the process of healing before your lip blush.

    • Do not work-out the day of the procedure as the body heat expands the pores. It is recommended not to sweat (heavily) for the first week after the procedure. Sweat is salty and can prematurely fade the treated area.

    • If you have a cold sore or are prone to cold sores, you will need to be taking cold sore medication prescribed by your doctor prior to the procedure. The procedure can trigger the cold sore virus and you may experience a break-out on your lips after the procedure. By taking the medication, you minimize your chances of a cold sore breaking out.

    • Please exfoliate the lips if dry for up to 7 days before your lip blush and apply a lip balm.

    • Discontinue the use of any anti-aging, skin brightening or anti-acne skincare products. Particularly those that contain Alpha Hydroxy (AHA), vitamin A, Retinol. Even if you do not use in the area to be treated the product does spread under your skin and your cosmetic tattoo can heal patchy. You may resume these products once the lips have healed.

    • Do not schedule any facials, microdermabrasion, micro needling, peels or laser treatments 4 weeks prior to your appointment.

  • In the first 24 hours your lips could be slightly swollen for the first day with slight bruising occasionally. Your lips will also appear darker and more defined than your desired look. This is completely normal and won’t be your finished and healed results. Your lips will start to flake and peel a day or two after the treatment. You’ll also experience some scabbing the first week after your appointment as your skin heals, so its very important to keep your lips highly moisturized those first few weeks. Once the scabs have fallen off within 3-8 days this is when your colour will fade up to 50% and blend naturally with your lips. Most individuals say they feel their lips are healed in around 3-5 days.

  • Typically, lip blushing lasts between two to three years and will gradually lighten and fade to your natural hue over time. We recommend a touch up every 12-24 months to keep your lips looking your preferred shade.

  • Before the lip blushing process begins, we apply a typical number cream which we leave on for around 10 minutes, numbing gel will also be reapplied through out the process. This will significantly dull your pain. The pain can be described as small pinches or light scratches. Many say there is light to no discomfort.

  • Touch ups are recommended for best and lasting results. Some clients feel they are happy with one session in which case you are welcome to book in for a touch up if and when you feel it is necessary for you.

  • If you have an auto-immune disease.

If you have thyroid/graves disease (medication may cause pigment to not retain properly). ...You have anemia (pigment may not retain properly).

If you have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring.

    You are currently undergoing chemotherapy.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding

If you have Diabetes type 1 or 2 (due to slow healing and infection, color may or may not retain well).

If you have a history of cold sores, please ensure you have taken the anti viral medication which can be provided to you by a GP or pharmacist. This will assist in preventing any potential breakouts.

Anyone who has any serious medical conditions will require a doctor’s note.

If you have taken antibiotics in the last 4 weeks, please wait 4 weeks after your prescription has finished.
